#YLAHK2016

ABOUT THE YOUNG LAUREATE AWARD
The Young Laureate Award will be Hong Kong’s first national literacy competition judged by the very best adjudicators from top UK and US boarding schools and universities. Students ranging from Senior Primary to Upper Secondary (P5 - F5 / Grades 5 - 11) are invited to participate in one of three categories to showcase their talents on the international stage.
With 23 judges from the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, Columbia University and top UK and US boarding schools, the Young Laureate Award is an exciting opportunity to display and stretch the imaginations and literacy abilities of Hong Kong's youth. The best Reader-Writer from each of the three categories will win a fully funded scholarship to attend a summer program in the UK or the US!
"The power of literacy lies not just in the ability to read and write, but rather in a person’s capacity to apply these skills to effectively connect, interpret and discern the intricacies of the world in which they live. The Young Laureate Award will certainly be a great opportunity for students in Hong Kong to hone these important critical skills at a young age, and ultimately be much more prepared for university and beyond."
- Dr. Karen Ottewell, Director of the Academic Development and Training for International Students and Fellow of Lucy Cavendish College, the University of Cambridge.
